Edgar Renteria homered just what San Francisco needed to secure the win in the fifth inning and the Giants came up with a seven-run eighth inning on their way to blowing out the Rangers.

Leading 1-0 from a homer by Renteria, Juan Uribe hit a single RBI off reliever Darren Oliver in the seventh inning to pad Giants lead to two.
San Francisco had a huge breakaway in the eighth inning. A couple of walks and scores were followed by run-scoring hits.
